another meaningless passage. HAHA
and then,there was silence. one man stood up amongst the thousands slayed, bearing a purloined sword from the one of the fallen.
the sword was still dripping droplets of blood. he looked back and stared at me. i looked right into those pitiless black eyes.
i felt like he was draining me of all hope. i felt cold, deathly cold. my vision slid in and out of focus. i couldn't pull myself out of his spell. i looked on with affright, uncertain of the end. i thought, am i going to stay like this forever? is anyone going to save me? am i -
suddenly, there was a flash of lightning,blinding me totally, followed by a crash of thunder. and then, there was silence.
by the time i could see through the white veil covering my eyes, i looked around and saw that the man had vanished, in his place were flocks of ravens and crows, descending upon the carnage, feeding on the flesh of the fallen. i cringed at the sight of a few tearing out a dead man's eyeball. i pushed myself up and limped away towards the carnage, pressing a strip of cloth on my right arm, staunching the flow of blood from the wound.
as i neared the birds' free-for-all buffet, they stood their ground, as if afraid that i'd partake in their feeding frenzy as well. i snorted, taking little amusement from this reflected.
the disappearance of the man was more pressing. i couldn't get him out of my mind, especially those eyes. those merciless black eyes stared right through you, as if burning at your soul. i thought, what was he after? why did he do this? who's going to be his next victim? more importantly, why did he spare me?
i continued on along the road, unaware of the pair of yellow eyes, watching me from the trees. as i walked further into the distance, a small figure dropped from the tree, landing on the balls of its feet,making no sound at all, and retreated into the bushes, where only most observant eagle could make out the gentle rustling of the leaves that were the only evidence of his movement.
